Dubai Metro Green Line
The Green Line is the Dubai Metro's link to the city's older soul. Over roughly 23 km and 20 stations it curves from Etisalat by e& in the north, down through the markets and hotels of Deira, across the Creek and into historic Bur Dubai, ending at Creek. It meets the Red Line at Union and BurJuman, so it's easy to combine the two.

The Green Line has 20 stations running from Etisalat by e& to Creek, a journey of about ~23 km that takes roughly ~40 minutes end to end. About the Green Line
🕌 The heritage heart of Dubai
If the Red Line is modern Dubai, the Green Line is the old city. It is the line that takes you to the Gold Souk and Spice Souk in Deira, to the wooden abra boats that ferry passengers across Dubai Creek, and to the restored heritage quarters, textile market and museums of Bur Dubai. These are the districts that existed long before the skyscrapers, and the Green Line threads right through them.
🧭 Compact, central and easy to walk
The Green Line is shorter than the Red and its stations sit closer together, because it serves dense, older neighbourhoods rather than spread-out modern developments. That works in your favour: it is easy to ride a couple of stops and then explore on foot between the souks, the Creek and the historic districts. The line stays close to the water for much of its length.
🔀 Two easy links to the Red Line
The Green Line connects to the Red Line at Union and BurJuman, where you can switch lines without leaving the paid area or buying a new ticket. This makes it simple to combine the two in one day — a morning in Old Dubai and the souks, a quick change at Union or BurJuman, and an afternoon at the Burj Khalifa and Downtown.

Like the whole network, Green Line trains carry no driver — a central control system runs them behind platform-edge doors, which keeps them punctual and turning up every few minutes even on the busy souk-bound stretches.
Free WiFi
You will find complimentary WiFi on board and in the stations, so you can look up the souks or plan an onward trip while you ride.
Air conditioned
All trains and stations are fully climate-controlled — a real bonus on a line where so many stops sit beside open-air markets and the Creek.
Full accessibility
Each Green Line station is step-free, with lifts, ramps and guide paths for wheelchair users, families and anyone carrying bags.
Women & Children cabin
There is a dedicated Women & Children cabin on every Green Line train, signposted on the platform and on the doors.
Gold Class cabin
A Gold Nol card unlocks the premium Gold cabin, with extra space and comfier seats at twice the normal fare — useful around the crowded souk stations.
24/7 security
The Green Line is watched by CCTV and staffed at its stations, with platform doors and clear bilingual signage throughout.

Ticketing
Buy a Nol card: available at every Green Line station. Expect AED 3 to AED 7.50 depending on zones, with the Gold option for the premium cabin.
Best travel times
Avoid rush hour: trains fill up 7:00–9:00 AM and 5:00–8:00 PM; travel between the peaks for a calmer ride out to the souks.
Luggage
Keep it to two bags: one case and one carry-on, and try not to block the doors on busy souk-bound trains.
Family cabins
Pink-marked cabin: the Green Line reserves a Women & Children cabin on each train, easy to spot on the platform.
Navigation apps
Handy apps: RTA Dubai for live times and Nol balance, and S'hail for full door-to-door routing.
Rules to Follow
Riding the Dubai Metro means following a few simple rules. They keep the system clean, safe and running on time — and several carry on-the-spot fines, so it's worth knowing them before you travel.
No eating or drinking
Food and drink are off-limits on board and on platforms, except in marked areas, to keep Green Line trains tidy.
Fine ~AED 100No smoking
There is no smoking or use of e-cigarettes anywhere on the Green Line, platforms included.

Wait beside the doors and let passengers step off first; stand on the right on escalators.
Respect priority & cabins
Give up priority seating where it is needed, and do not use the Women & Children cabin if it does not apply to you.

Keep a valid Nol card and remember to tap both ways; riding without one is the most heavily fined offence.
