Dubai Metro Blue Line
The Blue Line is the Dubai Metro's next great leap — a roughly 30 km, 14-station line under construction with an opening target of 9 September 2029. It will bring fast, driverless rail to the fast-growing communities of eastern Dubai for the first time, including Dubai Creek Harbour, International City, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City.
About the Blue Line
🔵 The metro's biggest expansion
The Blue Line is the next major stage of the Dubai Metro — reportedly an AED 56 billion project of around 30 km and 14 stations, currently under construction with an opening target of 9 September 2029, the metro's 20th anniversary. It is designed to serve fast-growing communities in eastern Dubai that the Red and Green lines do not currently reach.
🌉 Engineering highlights
The line will include the first metro bridge across Dubai Creek and a flagship station at Emaar Properties that is planned to be among the tallest metro stations in the world. A mix of elevated and underground sections will weave the new route through already-built neighbourhoods.
🔀 New links to the network
The Blue Line is expected to add new interchanges to the existing system around the eastern end of the Red Line, making it possible to reach Creek Harbour, Silicon Oasis and Academic City directly by metro for the first time.
Areas the Blue Line Will Serve
Final station names have not all been confirmed by the RTA, but the route is planned to serve these eastern Dubai districts. We'll update this page as official details are released.
Dubai Creek Harbour
A major new waterfront district on the Creek, expected to be a key Blue Line destination.
Emaar Properties Station
Planned as one of the tallest metro stations in the world, beside the first metro bridge over Dubai Creek.
International City
The dense, affordable residential communities of International City phases.
Dubai Silicon Oasis
The technology free-zone and residential hub in eastern Dubai.

Blue Line Features & Services
Like the rest of the network, the Blue Line is fully automated and built for comfort in Dubai's climate. Here's what you can expect on board and in its stations:
Fully automated
The Blue Line will open as a fully automated, driverless line from day one, using the same central-control technology and platform screen doors that keep the rest of the metro safe and frequent.
Free WiFi
Free public WiFi is planned across Blue Line trains and stations, in line with the rest of the network.
Air conditioned
Trains and stations will be fully air-conditioned throughout, as standard everywhere on the Dubai Metro.
Full accessibility
The Blue Line is being built step-free from the start, with lifts, ramps and tactile guidance planned at every station.
Women & Children cabin
Blue Line trains will include the usual Women & Children cabin, marked on the platforms and carriages.
Gold Class cabin
A Gold-class cabin is expected on the Blue Line too, offering premium seating for a higher fare.
24/7 security
The Blue Line will be monitored 24/7 by CCTV and station staff, with platform screen doors fitted as standard.
Nol card payment
The Blue Line will use the same Nol card as the rest of the network, so one card will cover every leg of your journey.

Make your Blue Line journey smooth and hassle-free with these essential tips.
Ticketing
You will need a Nol card: the Blue Line is set to use the same Nol fares as today, from AED 3 up to AED 7.50 by zone.
Best travel times
Plan around peaks: like the rest of the metro, expect the heaviest crowds 7:00–9:00 AM and 5:00–8:00 PM.
Luggage
Two bags per passenger: a large case plus a carry-on, kept away from the doorways during rush hour.
Family cabins
Family cabin: the Blue Line will carry the usual Women & Children cabin, clearly signed on platforms and doors.
Navigation apps
Stay updated: the RTA Dubai and S'hail apps will cover the Blue Line for times, fares and routing once it opens.
Rules to Follow
Riding the Dubai Metro means following a few simple rules. They keep the system clean, safe and running on time — and several carry on-the-spot fines, so it's worth knowing them before you travel.
No eating or drinking
No eating or drinking on trains or platforms except where marked — the rule will apply on the Blue Line as everywhere else.
Fine ~AED 100No smoking
Smoking and vaping will be prohibited throughout Blue Line stations and trains.
Fine ~AED 200Let passengers off first
Board only once others have stepped off, and keep the left of escalators clear for walkers.
Respect priority & cabins
Respect priority seats and the Women & Children cabin, just as on the rest of the network.
Fine ~AED 100Always carry a valid ticket
A valid Nol tap-in and tap-out will be required on the Blue Line; travelling without one is the costliest mistake.
Fine ~AED 200No feet on seats or littering
No feet on seats and no littering — the same minor-offence fines will apply.
Fine ~AED 100Mind your luggage
Carry no more than two bags and keep gangways clear; bulky items may be refused at peak times.
No dangerous or prohibited items
No weapons, hazardous materials or animals other than guide dogs will be permitted on the Blue Line.
